About Pocket Color Lighting Studio (PCLS)

Welcome to Pocket Color Lighting Studio (PCLS) — a mobile app to turn your screen into a colored light, explore colors by name or code, see how hues shift under different color temperatures, and calculate paint-mix recipes from a target color.

PCLS helps you use the Light Panel (full-screen light with brightness control), the Kelvin Simulator (preview a base color under warm-to-cool illuminants), Presets (ready-made lighting scenes for selfie, ambient, video, and more), Color catalogs (search thousands of named colors by HEX, RGB, CMYK, or locale), and Paint Mix (physical paint recipe calculator). Recent colors, custom catalog entries, saved paint mixes, your own presets, and favorites are stored locally on your device (SQLite). You can export and import a structured backup (ZIP) from the Data area when your build includes it. Network is used only when you choose online features (see the Privacy Policy).

Color catalogs: Search bundled and remote color-name catalogs (multilingual names and aliases, for example Nordeste Brazil); browse, inspect HEX/RGB/CMYK attributes, add custom entries, and jump to Light Panel or Kelvin; optional remote sync.
Paint Mix: Calculate paint recipes from a target color using physical mixing models; generic and artist pigment banks; recipe in mL and drops; save mixes to history (premium). On-screen color is not the same as physical paint.
Paint Mix history: Reopen saved mixes (premium).
Color input: Enter HEX, RGB, or CMYK; use the color wheel picker; get catalog suggestions while you type.
Color history: Quick access to recent colors and favorites.
Data backup: Export or import a local database backup (ZIP) when available (premium or 24h Premium Pass).
Settings: Theme and color palette (25+ presets), links to legal information, optional wipe-all data, and debug options in development builds.
Onboarding: Short tutorial on first launch; re-accessible from the menu.
Languages: 37 locales; the app follows your device language.
Monetization (when enabled): Premium subscription, 24h Premium Pass, optional consumable tips, rewarded ads for temporary unlocks, and banner ads on the free tier.
Privacy-first core: Your lighting choices and local catalog data stay on the device unless you use online features (ads, store billing, optional catalog sync, translation helpers, or external links).

Included features and limits (summary)

The app may offer free, trial, premium, or ad-supported access depending on the build and store configuration. Some actions (for example full-screen Light Panel uses, Kelvin visits, Paint Mix, unlimited color history, HD export without watermark, custom themes, or data backup) may be limited on the free tier or unlocked via subscription, 24h Premium Pass, or rewarded ads, depending on feature_config and the store listing.

On-screen colors and paint-mix predictions are approximations for creative and reference use. They are not a calibrated color-management, colorimeter, or medical lighting system.

Limits and entitlements can change with app updates; the in-app experience and store listing prevail over this page.

FAQ

Do I need an account?
No. You can use the core local workflow without creating an account.

Do I need internet?
Most color picking, Light Panel, Kelvin, presets, and Paint Mix use work offline after catalogs are installed. Internet is used when you choose features that need it (for example ads, in-app purchases, optional remote catalog updates, optional translation helpers, an other apps carousel, or opening external links).

Will I lose my data if I uninstall?
Local data lives on your device. Uninstalling the app can permanently remove history, custom colors, presets, and saved paint mixes unless you have exported a backup ZIP through the Data area when available.

Is this a professional colorimeter or studio monitor calibration tool?
No. PCLS is a creative utility for phone/tablet screens. You remain responsible for how you use screen light (eye comfort, brightness in dark environments, and any production or health requirements).

Does Paint Mix guarantee an exact paint match?
No. Recipes are estimates based on pigment models and your inputs. Always test on a sample and follow manufacturer guidance for real paint work.
